K P Unnikrishnan is a former Union Minister and the Member of Parliament for Vatakara. He was earlier associated with the Socialist Party and the Praja Socialist Party. In the 1960s, he joined the Indian National Congress; he was also part of the Indian National Congress (U), the Indian Congress (Socialist), and the leader of the Congress (Secular). Later, he quit active politics and devoted himself to reading and writing.
