K Satchidanandan, is an award winning, bilingual, poet, editor, literary columnist, and translator. He is perhaps the most widely translated of contemporary Indian poets, and has 23 collections of his poetry published in several Indian and foreign languages. In addition to poetry, he published several books of travel, plays and criticism and translations of poetry from around the world. He is a Fellow of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, and won many literary awards, including the National Akademi award, the World Poetry Peace Prize from the UAE, the India-Poland Friendship Medal, and the Dante Medal from Ravenna. He received a Knighthood from the Government of Italy and was in the Ladbroke final shortlist of Nobel Prize for Literature probables in 2011.
