B. Rajeevan is a literary critic and social thinker. During the 1975 Emergency Period, he was subjected to police torture and placed under house arrest. He served on the State Committee of the Janakeeya Samskarika Vedi (People's Cultural Forum) in the 1980s and was active in various struggles. He has authored nine books, and his thought provoking essays have been included in many anthologies and other notable publications. His notable works are Indiayude Veendedukkal, Vakkukalum Vasthukkalum, and Marxisavum Shasthravum. His writings focus on aesthetics, political philosophy, history, film, and literature. He is a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award and the O.V. Vijayan Sahitya Puraskaram.
