Prof. Jolly Varghese is a well-known academician, literary, and media person, who has already published 21 books and 2 books are currently work in progress. In 1996, she made her presence in the literary and media world known with the first-ever interview with Matha Amritanandamayi for Asianet, which was described as the journalistic scoop of the year. This was followed up by a series of interviews with leading personalities of the cultural & literary scene in Kerala. In 1996, she started writing short stories and articles in Malayalam, and she ventured into translating world-famous classics and Nobel Prize-winning books by authors like Kahlil Gibran, Jose Saramago, Orhan Pamuk, Kate Moses, Simone de Beauvoir and Gabriel Garcia Marquez into Malayalam. In 2011, she was appointed as a member of the Kerala Sahitya Academy and during the period 2012-2014, she was appointed as a subject expert in the committee of the Ministry of Culture of Government of India. She is currently a member of the Academic Council of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Developmental Studies. Kerala State Institute of Languages published her book, “Kahlil Gibran”, a biography of the famous Lebanese writer.
