N. Ramachandran IPS Is the Grandson of famous storyteller Karoor Neelakanta Pillai. In 1983, he started his career as a police sub-inspector. In 2017, when he was the Kottayam District Police Chief, he was awarded the President's Distinguished Service Medal, the highest honor in the police force. He received a special commendation from the Governor and a cash award from the Government of Kerala for arresting the main accused in the Suryanelli case. He has received over 200 awards during his service, including the Badge of Honor, Meritorious Service Entries and Good Service Entries. In 2008, he received IPS and has worked as Palakkad KAP Superintendent of Police,Crime Branch, Special Branch and Vigilance and as the former Director of Kerala Women's Commission and as Chief Vigilance Officer in Kerala Electricity Department.
