Shabir Ahmad Mir is a writer and poet based in Pulwama, Kashmir. His debut novel "The Plague Upon Us" was one of the best books in 2020 and was shortlisted for The JCB Prize for Literature 2021. The book details the current bleakness of life in Kashmir, the pent-up historical rage of his people, and the enduring sense of betrayal that haunts generations. He has been awarded the Reuel International Prize for fiction in 2017. He writes stories and poems surrounding the theme of survival keeping in mind sustainability and human conflict.
