Vinu Abraham is a writer of short stories, novels, essays and film scripts. He has published 21 books including 9 short story collections and 4 novels. Among the novels is Nashtanayika, which narrates the tragic lives of P K Rosy, Malayalam cinema's first heroine and J C Daniel, Kerala's first filmaker. Celluloid, a Malayalam film directed by Kamal is the adaptation of Nashtanayika. Oru Swadunottakkarante Bhakshanaparyavekshanangal is the first novel in Malayalam centred on the theme of food.
Vinu Abraham has won the prestigious SBT short story award for his book Nilavinte Nakhangal. He is a recipient of awards like K.A Kodun galloor award for stories and Premji award for story collection. The script he wrote for Parudeesa, directed by R. Sarath won the awars for the Best Script at the Mexico international film festival.
Vinu Abraham is also a former member of Kerala Sahithya Academy, Kerala state televisionawards jury and Kerala University Board of Studies.
