Viju B is the Metro Editor of The Times of India, Kochi. He has been with The Times of India newspaper for the last 14 years. Viju covered catastrophic events like the 26/7 Mumbai floods, the Taj hotel terror attacks and 2002 Gujarat riots. He exposed the Rs 50,00 crore Sindhudurg mining scam in 2010, which would have destroyed mining resources in the Western Ghats region in Maharashtra. He was part of the core investigation team which exposed the Adarsh building scam, which came up violation of Coastal Regulation Zone rules.
In August 2018, he covered the Kerala floods extensively for the Times of India. Later, in order to write the book, Flood and Fury, he revisited not only Kerala, but also traveled to ecologically devastated regions along the Western Ghats region, travelling around 1600 kilometers from Kerala to Maharashtra. The book is an investigative work, with a multi-layered narrative, which speaks not only about the ecology of this region, but even documents the micro- cultures and lives of the communities living in this region. The book became an Amazon best seller and turned out to be a prophetic work, as it predicted an ecological disaster in Wayanad. This year too landslides occurred in Wayanad and Malappuram claiming the lives of 76 people.
