Firat Sunel is currently the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to India. He is an international lawyer, a career diplomat, and an author. Sunel’s published novels in Turkish are I?zmirli (Last Love), Sarpincik Feneri (The Lighthouse Family), and Salkim So¨g?u¨tlerin Go¨lgesinde (In the Shade of the Weeping Willows, 2011) which has been translated into several languages, including Malayalam, and inspired a TV series about the expulsion of tens of thousands of people by the Soviets in 1944.
