Devdutt Pattanaik and Priya K Nair held a pannel discussion in the KLF Club House platform on 11 June 2021. The Session began at 7:30 pm and was put forth by Kerala Literature Festival in association with DC Books. The discussion at the Club House was based on Devdutt's latest book Shyam: an illlustrated retelling of Bhagavatha, translated into Malayalam by DC Books. The discussion brushed upon topics like plurality of narratives, Social status of the Shyamavarna avatar, religious iconography, cross dressing, and Dharma. The discussion witnessesed the presence of a heterogenous audience, with participants and speakers hailing from different parts of the country.
Shyam takes us through the life of Krishna, following a chronological order from a time before his birth to his death and thereafter. It is interspersed with Krishna's observations and teachings.
Devdutt Pattanaik writes on relevance of mythology in modern times, especially in areas of management, governance and leadership. Trained in medicine, he worked for 15 years in the healthcare and pharma industries before he focused on his passion full time. He is author of 41 books and over 1000 columns, with bestsellers such as My Gita, Jaya, Sita, Business Sutra and the 7 Secret Series. He was a speaker at TEDIndia 2009 and spoke on Myths that Mystify, East versus West. His TV shows include Business Sutra on CNBC-TV18 and Devlok on Epic TV. He consults organisations on culture, diversity and leadership and also consults various television channels and filmmakers on storytelling.
