Vivek Shanbhag is a renowned Kannada short story writer, novelist, and playwright. His literary contributions include five collections of short stories, five novels, and three plays. Shanbhag has also edited two anthologies, one of which is in English. As the founding editor of the literary journal Desha Kaala, he has played a significant role in the literary landscape. One of his highly acclaimed works, "Ghachar Ghochar," has been translated into 19 languages. Additionally, he co-translated U R Ananthamurthy`s "Hindutva or Hind Swaraj" into English. As a Fall 2016 resident at the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa, Shanbhag continues to contribute to the literary world. His latest publication is titled "Sakina`s Kiss." He is a Visiting Professor teaching creative writing at the Ashoka University.
