The next eKLF session will be live on July 24, 2021 at 6:30 pm. The panel will be graced by eminent historian and author Romila Thapar. Festival director, K. Satchidanandan will be intorducing the session for the day and a conversation will be held on the topic "Some Dissenting Voices in Indian History". Thapar is currentlhy serving the position of Professor Emeritus at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. DC Books will be publishing the Malayalam translation of two books The Past and Present, as well as Voices of Dissent authored by the revered historian. She chose Ancient India as her core area research and attained a doctorate in Indian history from School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London in 1958. Thapar’s major works are Aśoka and the Decline of the Mauryas, Ancient Indian Social History: Some Interpretations, Recent Perspectives of Early Indian History (editor), A History of India Volume One, and Early India: From the Origins to AD 1300. Her recent work on Somnath examines the evolution of the historiographies about the legendary Gujarat temple.
